Southern Bruce Natural Gas Distribution System Design

This project was EPCOR's first major natural gas pipeline project in Ontario. The design of a natural gas distribution system to connect customers to a safe and efficient fuel source for the communities of Southern Bruce. The project provides a natural gas supply line from the main line to Kincardine and other communities.

Outcome

Successful Installation of 75km Pipeline and Distribution Network

Throughout the project, TWD provided engineering, inspection, and construction management support, as well as third party construction observations. The project's successful outcome is marked by the seamless installation of 75 kilometers of NPS 8 and NPS 6 steel main lines, along with 65 kilometers of Polyethylene (PE) community distribution and over 2,000 customer service installations, all meticulously adhering to CSA Z-662 compliance standards. The implementation included rigorous NDE and Hydrotesting procedures, oversight of quality control (QC) and safety practices, regular construction and project updates, as well as effective de-risking and de-bottlenecking strategies to address project issues and challenges. The final phase of commissioning ensures the project's readiness for optimal functionality.
