Together We Deliver Mining Infrastructure Improvements That Support Production, Reliability and Growth
October 22, 2026

What if the key to stronger mining operations isn't new infrastructure, but making existing assets work harder?
Behind every successful mining operation is the infrastructure that keeps it moving forward. From underground ventilation and processing systems to critical equipment and site infrastructure, strategic engineering investments play a key role in extending asset life, improving reliability, and maximizing operational efficiency.
At a gold mining operation in Northern Ontario, TWD's multidisciplinary engineering teams are putting this approach into action through a series of targeted projects focused on modernizing existing assets, enhancing safety, and supporting sustainable, long-term production.
These projects include:
🔹Ventilation Infrastructure: Relocation and upgrade of existing surface ventilation systems, including fans, heaters, and associated electrical infrastructure, to support the restart of underground mining operations. A critical component of the mine's redevelopment, the project will enhance ventilation capacity to accommodate future underground development.
🔹Process Optimization: Restoration and modernization of a mill's acid washing process to improve carbon regeneration efficiency and support gold recovery, while incorporating critical safety and operational considerations, including safe handling of hazardous chemicals, off-gas management, and seamless integration with existing mill systems.
🔹Mine Development: Relocation and upgrade of an existing paste distribution facility, a critical component of the client's restart of operations. The upgraded facility will support the resumption of underground development and backfilling activities, enabling planned production ramp-up and continued mine expansion.
🔹Infrastructure Rehabilitation: Rehabilitation of a deteriorating haul road culvert to address structural deficiencies, maintain critical mine access, and mitigate potential environmental risks. The project focuses on restoring the culvert's structural integrity and hydraulic performance while minimizing disruption to ongoing operations and protecting the surrounding waterway.
🔹Operational Safety & Automation: Upgrading a lime silo truck fill station with automated valves and controls to strengthen overfill protection, improve high-level shutoff reliability, and reduce the risk of material spills during loading operations.
The value of these projects extends well beyond the individual engineering scopes. By improving existing systems rather than replacing them unnecessarily, mining operators can maximize infrastructure investments, improve resource utilization, reduce operational risks, and strengthen the long-term sustainability of their operations. Whether the priority is modernizing aging infrastructure, improving process performance, increasing equipment reliability, or preparing for future expansion, TWD brings the expertise to deliver your operation's goals.
